I SAH and still have someone come every few weeks to clean. I don't know how they do it but they are able to get grime off the stove that I just can't seem to remove. They also wash the walls and floor boards. Stuff that I just don't get to in my day to day cleaning.

It really isn't a huge deal to clean your own house. Seriously. That's my point. Maybe if you spent less time on here complaining about your maid, then you'd have time to vacuum your own house.

I don't WANT to clean my house or do my laundry or drop of my dry cleaning or dust tables. That is why i employ a full time housekeeper. Guess what i did not do today? Chores, grocery shopping, errands, and cooking. Instead I went to 2 basketball games, ran 8 miles, played UNO, played wii, and ate a dinner prepared in my house by someone else; now I'm sitting her while my husband watches a stupid Matt Damon movie.

Have fun with those toilets, make sure to get the skid marks off.

OP here, LOL. PP without a house cleaner, I have yet to see a SAHM that claims to stay in shape by cleaning the house. In fact, I know too many SAHM that are very overweight. I prefer cardio to toilet-o.

At some point in a woman's life, time becomes more valuable than money. I always changed my own oil and filter in my car when I was poor. I could sew all my own clothes if necessary. But now that I have more important uses of my time (and make more money), I outsource what I can so I can be with my family and have some fun too. Not all people with disposable incomes make the same decisions. I think it's important for people, especially with children, to do some chores themselves (and most certainly for children to do some housework). I think it's fine to hire a housekeeping company, but the problem comes in when you start viewing them as "the help." And clearly a lot of people here have reached that point. Perhaps some were raised with that view.

No, I would suggest that your kids have chores, clean their own rooms, make their beds, et cetera. But perhaps I'm just old-fashioned.

I love how so many people wax eloquent about how they do it so they have time on the weekends or evenings to "spend with their family," and yet they're on here... hmmm, quality family time surfing the internets.

We have maid service once a week and they can come any time that we are at work. They have from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm to clean. Yet they always arrive at 5:45 pm, apologizing for being late. I don't have any intention of firing them because we have worked with them for a long time and they seem like nice people. I have talked to them several time about the need to come during the earlier window, but it never changes. Since I am not going to fire them, I guess I have to accept the situation.

I am a SAHM with kids that have naps at home.... very scheduled naps (I am a Weisbleuther.) My maid is often later that I would like, but she knows by 1:00 pm the kids' rooms need to be cleaned so they can start their naps. She always starts in their rooms and then moves on from that point. I don't pay by the hour. Sometimes my girl shows up with 3 friends, sometimes by herself. Anyways, I am just happy for the help overall.
