You can probably start planning to move now if you'd seriously move if you got into Sela. Founding year and Hebrew? I doubt they'll turn anyone away this year, but you could call them and ask how many apps they've received so far - that will give you some idea.
I called them and they are "way over subscribed for pre-K," over subscribed for K, and may or may not have a lottery for 1st, apparently they are getting lots of new apps in from closing schools. I need pre-K.
Way oversubscribed doesn't mean anything for a first year charter. PK can go well into the 100s in a first year, temp location. Anyone can apply online and use it as a backup.
Agree with this. & remember, lottery season is not over until Oct 5th (more than 6 months away). A lot will happen between now and then, not even counting the big September shuffle. Your odds are very good.
Also, if the school knows what's good for them, they should not be turning away/shunning (even subtle tones) PS and PK interested families. Even if they have 200 applications now, heaven forbid they do go into the 100s to fill their open spots, then first week of school 2 kids decide to go to another school (which will happen), they will likely then go deep into the 200s that 1st/2nd week. Sept shuffle is no joke. Especially with startups.
