OP, why did you not think it would be possible? Honestly, if you're really looking for (your words) more "urban" and "young professional," live in the District. Look at Logan Circle, U St Corridor, and NoMa. I would venture to say that living in DC proper now is the best its been since, well, EVER. It's really undergone a revival. Plus you'd both have reverse commutes.
