There is no preference given to HGC students when they apply to the MS magnets. Eastern and Takoma Park each have 100 spots and there are sixteen high school clusters who feed into these two programs. Roughly 800-900 fifth graders apply to each of these programs.

New to MoCo. My kid is only in K.

If you don't get in to an HGC in ES, what happens to those kids that are 'smart' but not 'gifted'? Can you still apply for a Magnet program in MS? Or are you shut out of the magnets if you are not in a HgC?
