All you have to do is look at Rocky Run MS and Liberty MS. Rocky Run which has the GT Center sends about 40 kids every year to TJ. Liberty, which has NO GT Center, sends maybe 1 or 2 a year to TJ (if it's a good year!). SO where do you think we want to send our LLIV Elementary student, hmmmmm?
BTW, as has been mentioned by FCPS people here, transportation costs are very low to send kids to GT Centers. It's just not much of a factor. In the above example, Rocky Run is actually closer to us than to Liberty anyway.

I think in some schools you're correct and in others not as much. If a base school gets over 40 students qualifying for AAP, I think it's enough children not to also pay for transportation to a center and they can just attend LLIV at their school. A school with only 5 children qualifying would need transportation to a center.
