Not necessarily. My DD had a UTI when she was 18 months and the ONLY symptom was blood in her diaper. She gave no indication of pain or discomfort. She was on antibiotics for 2-3 days before she had a fever.

oh, now you mention it. I think my DS, potty trained, also sometimes has tiny brown flecks in urine in his potty. I thought those are dusts. He loves to hold urine, and does not drink enough liquids, a bit on the darker side for his urine color.

Hint enter too soon. If no UTI, have your doctor run a kidney panel. It's a simple blood draw (which admittedly can suck for a young kid), but it will give you a lot of information.

My 3 yr old has these specks in her urine going to the doctors today. Worried her urine is very dark also but she drinks a ton of water.

Actually I'm on my way now to the doctors cause my 3 yr old daughter has a bunch of it in her urine. I seen it when she used the potty. But her other symptoms are complaining about stomach and digging at herself. Plus starting to get alittle more cranky. But these symptoms have all just started recently as well. Just because you don't have other signs doesn't mean it won't be an infection. Some kids just hide it better and don't say anything till it's too late, or like me, till you find stuff in the urine. Plus some sign you might think are other things, cause let's face it they are toddlers. Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's an issue or just something else. When I get an answer I'll try and post what the doc says.

My three year is having brown flecks as we'll. We had urine tested and no infection,we also had renal ultrasound done everything was normal.the dr. Really wasn't concerned he said the urinary tract could be getting inflamed and the little flecks are skin? Has anyone heard of this?

Hi, did you get a answer? I'm seeing the same thing from my twin girls, they drink a lot so don't think it's dehydration?

I have noticed over the past few days that my two-year-old daughter has had these little pepper looking flakes. By the way, she is toilet training too. I think there is something to this after reading all of your posts. I am working on making sure she has enough liquids today and am going to let her pediatrician know at her next appointment in a few days. I just found something else on another website concerning something called a "curvalaria urinary tract infection." It has to do with a fungus in the urinary tract. These little flakes occur during one of these.
