OME DURING KATRINA.
Anonymous wrote:We've been on 5 cruises. 3 on RC and we've enjoyed those a lot. 2 on Carnival (my sister loves Carnival), but we've hated those. There have been many, many problems and errors and our ship wasn't disabled. Even though my sister and brother both like the party atmosphere, my wife and I have said that if they choose a family cruise on Carnival that we won't go. We'll go on another line, but not Carnival. Truly the bargain basement of cruise lines. To those who don't like cruising, have you tried a cruise line other than Carnival? I agree that you get what you pay for. You buy a cheap cruise, you get a cheap cruise.

+1. It was my first cruise and I felt like a spoiled brat for not enjoying it, but it REALLY sucked. You feel like you're on a floating Walmart. Cheap food, cheap, tacky decor, pretty crappy ports. (Though now I feel lucky because like this ship, ours had a propulsion issue and they worried if we went to our initial port of call of Turks and Caicos that we wouldn't have the power to make it back to Miami on time, so they changed the port to Freeport, Bahamas which was a FUCKING DUMP, but way better than being adrift at sea on a Shit Ship.)

I heard on Anderson Cooper that Carnival is offering the passengers a refund on their cruise. LOL. They deserve way more than that! What a horrible experience!
I think I read they are getting a refund and a voucher for another cruise (not that I would take the next one) and there was one other "perk". It sounds awful. I think this is why my husband refuses to go on cruises.
Think I read they get the cost of the cruise refunded, travel expenses refunded, a credit for a future cruise, and a credit of all onboard purchases outside of gift shop and casino. And they are giving out free booze, so that's one nice thing in a literal sea of shit.
From CNN "Passengers will get a free flight home, a full refund for their trip and for most expenses on board, as well as a credit for another cruise, Carnival said. Medical staff will be waiting in port for the ship's arrival, in case passengers need treatment."
