The only cruises DH and I ever did (not together) were on big grey ships. Never ran out of power or supplies. You know who can run a tight ship? The US Navy. Not terribly fun, but well run. We'd never pay to go on one.

Putting to sea with 4,000 people and insufficient stores for any unforseen circumstance is poor seamanship, to say the least. Really makes we wonder what else they're forgoing to save a buck.

This is why I would never go on a cruise. Even without the issues this one is having ... why would I want to be stuck on a ship with random tacky people for days on end?! Yuck.

I can't imagine much worse happening on a vacation. Americans get so few vacations days as it is -- it would really stink (literally and figuratively) to be stuck on that Carnival Cruise. I get motion sickness as it is -- I can't imagine those people having to deal with what they're facing. I can't imagine those folks ever, ever wanting to go on another Carnival Cruise. I don't understand why one of the nearby cruise ships couldn't rescue them.

We've been on 5 cruises. 3 on RC and we've enjoyed those a lot. 2 on Carnival (my sister loves Carnival), but we've hated those. There have been many, many problems and errors and our ship wasn't disabled. I won a cruise when I was in college. My cousin and I went together and we called it the KMART cruise. It was like standing in line a KMART everywhere we went on the boat. Luckily we were young and didn't pay for it. It I did, I would have been pissed. Never considered going on a cruise again.

Disney Cruises are fun with kids. Really (and I am not a cruise type person) ... Don't expect 5 star food and such, but they are clean (MUCH cleaner than Disney parks and hotels) and less crowded than Disney parks, and overall a much more pleasant experience than Disney "on land."

Alaska is one place that is supposedly good by cruise boat - you see much from the water that you don't see from land. Other than that or short Disney jaunts, am personally not interested in cruises at all.

I think it has more to do with the fact that your husband is probably a classy guy.
