I just bought a car from car max and am very happy. I did not think i would be able to finance because of medical bills but i was able to get my dream car. They also gave me more for my trad in than i could get any place else.

I am all about used cars instead of new but a few years ago when I wanted a Lexus SUV, I compared one at carmax to the dealer and ended up getting a new one from the dealer for less than the price carmax was asking. I got Internet quotes before I came in and researched online what others were getting for the same car. And pulled the dealer invoice off consumer reports. With that ammunition I got a great price and every time I checked my car was valued higher than my loan.

We did spend all afternoon at the dealership going back and forth but I would rather have a car that's 3 years newer than those 3 hours back. Also we got 0% for 60mos and car max wasn't offering anything nearly as good.

I've heard this from others. Used car for the same price as new from a dealer.I think it's good for people who are intimidated by dealers, but not for someone who knows what they 're doing and wants the best value.

We once sold a used car there and got 2K more than the dealer offered. Easiest 2K ever.
