I'm another one with this problem, which I have been dealing with my entire life. OP I have the same "fit" issues that you do. My waist size is always much bigger than anywhere else and after having a child it is now really bad, especially below the waist, above C-section scar area. I never tuck in shirts, it just would look terrible. I have had luck recently with some tops from Ann Taylor and Loft that are meant to be untucked and have a slight bit of elastic around the bottom, so it kind of hugs the waist/hips lightly and causes the material to blouse out a little bit around the waist area. Also have a couple that are sort of peplum-esque just around the bottom hem waistline area. I don't like peplum, but I wear it anyway for the coverage. and I just about always wear a long, loose cardigan or other sweater or wrap on top. It gets very repetitive, but I am a big believer in finding what works and sticking with it.

I did have a couple of button down dress shirts that I would wear untucked in the past, but I agree it doesn't really look right unless you're lucky enough to find one made for that purpose.

Yeah, I think regular hem of button down shirt untucked is NOT okay. Just looks messy and not finished to me.

Button front shirts with that style hem ARE very hard to find, so between that and my boobs I rarely wear them.
