At 35 1m liquid net worth at 43 about 2 .3 m with liquid and non ie house has 1m in it.
This is as a couple not individual. We were just lucky to have saved a lot with high incomes at young age. No family money, both of us from lower middle class backgrounds.

You folks are doing great. I'm one of those folks that will never get there. If I didn't get married.....if I didn't have kids....if we didn't have health issues.....if I had married that rich girl after college.....

Age 32 or so but that's because I married an older man who had substantial savings.

Hit it just before 40. Will be 44 this year and hope to be at $1.5M by year's end; however some of that is college savings so doesn't "count" in that it's money I won't always have; however it's money I won't have to shift down the road. Over a third of my net worth is in real estate equity, which I am thinking might be too much. Anyway here is the current breakdown:

Retirement: $760K (this includes a taxable brokerage fund which could be used for other things but I count it as retirement)
Other savings: $50K
$230K equity in primary home
$260K equity in rental property which clears about $12K/year. Thinking of selling this and rolling the equity into the brokerage.
$120K in 529 plan, CD, and savings bonds for one 6-year old DC.

I think most people with such high net worth got it via real estate. Where else can you make a couple hundred thousand dollars in 3-5 years (granted, this was maybe 10 years ago, you can't do that now)?

Or are partners/own their own business.

At 36 and 34, we are poor compared to you guys

Hit it at about ~30

How?
- Luck in real estate investments when I was younger
- I used to work in banking (read: I made more at 22 than at 32)

This is me:

Age 37.

I'm a good saver. I was a GS-13 at the time. About half was from real estate (a rental condo and a house) and the other half stocks/bonds (partially retirement funds). Hope to hit $2 mil when I'm 45, but that will include several hundred thousand in inheritance.

Good for you! What type of job? Have you achieved this largely because of a high income, or savvy investments? (or both).

Both, plus a high savings rate. Have saved at least 25% of my income each year for over 20 years. We have a modest house, modest cars, take one vacation a year.

I see somebody asked "how".
first 200K was profit from housing bubble purchase and sale. My DH's first 100K was from saving and investing. We entered our marriage with 300K making about 140K jointly. . HHI is now 300K growing from 150K over about 6 years. We save a lot. As in we probably save 5-8K a month, depending. As a couple we started saving House is worth about 700K and we paid about 650. No other debt.

27. Home equity of $400k from prepaying, 401(k)s and a rental property I inherited.

FWIW, post-kids I took a lower-paying job and DH moved to academia. The rental property only brings in about $10k a year despite its $600k value. I keep it for sentimental reasons. We do not live like "millionaires" and do not spend much. I shop at Target and Walmart.

We do have newish, paid for cars (but not fancy -- a Ford and a Subaru) and take decent vacations (to our rental property but that "costs" too -- in that then we hardly make anything that year if we stay a few weeks in the house during peak season).

We live simply and continue to work toward paying off our house.

I think we hit it around age 45?

We are 51yo and currently our net worth is:

$800K house (own free and clear)
$1.5M in retirement
$300K in college savings
$200K in other savings and investments
