Dino is good. Upscale Italian. Not stuffy or fancy. It is next to Palena in Cleveland Park.

Another vote for CityZen. But if you can't get in there, you might want to try Marcels. It flies under the radar these days but I love it.

We had a wonderful meal and amazing cocktails at CityZen not long ago. Great tasting menu, good service.

The Washingtonian this month has the 100 best restaurants in the area. But for a wonderful date night, I vote for Cashion's Eat Place. It's really wonderful.

I don't think Komi's what you're looking for. The food is fancy and sophisticated, but the surroundings and service are not. Excellent, but not "fancy"--not white tablecloth.

Agree with the Bourbon Steak/Four Seasons rec. Also, Vermilion, Proof (good wine list), Vidalia. Heard good things about Quill in the Jefferson, but haven't been there.

OP, Little Serow (owned by the owner of Komi) doesn't take reservations. You just have to be willing to show up early and stand in line for an amazing meal.


I've eaten at Rasika West End with much less notice but was willing to eat on the early side. But I doubt a weekend with 2 days notice is possible.

Yes, Komi is way in advance. We reserved a month out and still got stuck with 5:30 on a weeknight. Not worth it in any event.

I'd start with what's available on Open Table and go from there - avoids disappointment.

You're probably going to have a tough time getting reservations this late in the game. I'd try Eve, Cityzen or Palena, as these are all great but not so trendy (the trendy restaurants seem to get booked up early). Another amazing option would be Adour in the St. Regis. We went recently and it wasn't crowed.

I don't think Little Serow would fit the bill. It's casual.
