Brideshead person back. What I don't understand is why Aloysius is spelled the way it is but pronounced as if it were spelled in a totally different fashion.

Sea Bass was an affectionate nickname for my brother and he loved it. It ended up on the back of his baseball jersey. I think the ridicule aspect and ability to pull off the name depends on the kid.

Anyhow, a middle name can be an "S.". Sebastian is too long for a first name and, indeed, does become Sea Bass.

I agree. My husband and I are considering this name (he is far more attached to it than me), but that is my beef. I feel like Sebastian is a big name for a little kid.

is he the one who has dimples and is giggly, sweet, sporty and smart? Because I'm betting he's not in high school yet--then come back and tell me nobody's ever called him Sea Bass.

For the record, I wasn't saying it was a bad name, or that Sea Bass will be a nickname used to tease him, just providing some info the OP may not have known. I think it's a fine choice if the OP likes it and thinks it fits her family. And no doubt it fits right into your family as well!
