Oatmeal, yogurt, scrambled eggs, cereal, miso soup, spinach/tomato/mozarella ramekins.
Tried forbidden rice porrige this morning. That didn't go over so well.

You should try International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. A once a year celebration of eating totally inappropriate things for breakfast.

No to ice cream, but definitely yes to rice pudding. DS loves it, having been partially raised in countries where that is the norm for very young children. It's not his only breakfast food, but it's still his favorite. We top it with cinnamon. Yum. Full-fat yogurt with honey is another option.

Oops, posted too soon. And on weekend, husband makes big breakfasts with eggs, bacon, etc. Food kind of grosses me out first thing in the morning, so smoothies are a godsend for me, and they love them, and we can take them to go.

My parents gave me ice cream for breakfast to bribe me to eat. No big deal.

Definitely experiment with smoothies, if they aren't big eaters early, drinking breakfast may work better.

On a weekend, whatever leftover dinner there is in the fridge can get chopped and go into the skillet with fried onions. Adults get fried eggs on top; for kids, eggs optional.

When DS has tired of breakfast options, sometimes we've done his favorite lunch things instead. Wraps, sandwiches, salad. There's nothing wrong with dinner for breakfast or breakfast for dinner.

I love oatmeal. One great thing about it is it's versatile. You don't have to do it with milk. You can bake it with apples and cinnamon; you can make your own muesli with plain yogurt and fruit; you can experiment with different sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, jam, brown sugar.... You can use non-milk milks like coconut. You can do different fruits in it. In a pinch, you can use the flavored instant packets. I like to munch oatmeal plain, raw--have loved this since I was a kid. (Rolled oats, not steel cut.)

Ah, oatmeal ....

When I was a kid all I could usually handle for breakfast before school was buttered toast, if that, so I can sympathize with kids whose stomachs haven't woken up at breakfast time. But if someone can eat ice cream or pudding, their stomach has woken up and they can, and should, be eating something with some nutritional value. Cereal seems like a decent alternative.
