#1 was super easy. 2nd month of TTC at 28. The pregnancy was miserable, though, and I had lots of health issues.
We waited until our daughter was 4.5 to start TTC #2 (many reasons), so I was 33 at the time. I'm now 35, my daughter will be 7 in a couple weeks, and I will be 36 a couple months later. After a year of TTC, we went to see a doctor about it. We have unexplained secondary infertility, but not sure we actually want to pursue any treatments. We keep trying on our own, but I think the thyroid condition that I developed during my first pregnancy may be the biggest factor keeping us from getting pregnant with #2.
I am almost positive I am the only mommy of a 1st grader actively TTC #2, though.
I very much doubt this. I know several women like you.
OK, good for them. I don't think there are a lot in my child's class though - most of the mommies are much older or already have multiple children.
I knew one family with a 9 year age gap, but it was a second marriage. And one of my daughter's friend's moms is getting married again and the little girl tells me they are planning to have a child. So, second marriage seems slightly more accepted for these gaps.
I feel somewhat alone in the world, though. Most assume if you haven't had a second kid within maybe 4 years or so, you have decided to be one and done. But I am the odd woman out in my everyday life with a planned larger gap but life throwing us an even larger one than previously expected.
