Less hassle parking and less touristy.

You'll love Vermilion. Have a great time.

As a possible brunch alternative, I've heard great things about Majestic's Sunday afternoon "family dinner." Think roast chicken and all the trimmings family-style. Haven't been yet, but have been trying to find a Sunday to get down there.

On the other hand, if you want something light during the prime part of the day, maybe that ain't it.

Thanks everyone! I'm the OP. We are staying at a family's place in Alexandria and I made reservations at Vermillion. We still haven't decided on brunch yet. I am sad to hear that the Dairy Godmother is closed for the season, we have been there and really liked it.

Op, stay in old town. Eat at the bar at eve, there is a more affordable bar menu and its very romantic. Society fair is relatively new, cute for wine and dessert. For brunch, I like hanks, we do virtue sometimes, vermillion and Jackson 20 are also both good choices. I live in del ray, and the restaurants are ok, but not worth leaving old town, honestly.

You're an idiot, dude. Have you ever even been to Del Ray?

Dumbass? Wow. Sounds like you need a Prozac sundae!

Have you ever had real Tex-Mex, coz Los Tios isn't it.

Calling it the best in the area is no compliment, as they are all just mediocre. I'm from Texas, I think I'd know.

I find Los Tios utterly boring. If I want Mexican, I'm heading to the excellent Taqueria further up Mt. Vernon Ave. (I forget the name--haven't been in awhile.)

I try and love the food at Los Tios but to me its just the same as any other Mexican place. They do have great customer service though.

Los Toltecos on Duke St is another Mexican place I like most of the time. Some days its better than others.

I like Los Tios for what it is, but it is not Tex Mex in any sense. I don't care what it says on the menu.

Eh, I'm a bigger fan of the Del Ray restaurants - Old Town is largely touristy with the exceptions of Majestic, Vermillion, Hank's, Eamonn's, and a very few others. Prefer the Del Ray places, though I disagree that Los Tios is anything special - good, but pretty standard tex mex in my opinion.

There is no reason to make a trip to Del Ray if you're in Old Town. Come on, people.
