In your average Big 3 private most of the kids ( 5th-6th stanine is 60% of the kids) will be right around 110-120 IQ and there ERB's will reflect that as well. This is where the s**t hits the fan and the nonsense of the WIPPSI testing of 4 year olds is laid bare. Sniff , sniff, 98th % ile becomes 6th stanine and jaws drop. The good news: its the same kid.

I remember those days.....

"stellar" is straight 9's( all 9th stanine) in every subset or 15/15 correct, 8/8, 9/9 etc...

" very, very good is some 8th and some 9th stanine. or 12/15, 7/8 correct, etc...

Min requirement for NCS/STA is 6th stanine ( or this used to be "the word") of course, THAT only applies to " otherwise well qualified candidates"

Kids scores usually improve a stanine from 2nd grade to 3rd grade.

get your kid into reading, read to him/her stopping for reflection here and there and try a few math websites ( 15 min a night for a year) IXL math is pretty good.

Yes, I have the same concerns. At first look, the scores are great - many subtest area with a 100%. However just a few subtests in the 80's brought her overall stanines down. Still none in the developing but I have the same concerns/questions that previous poster has about the stanines and how it is possible with several 100% she can still mid range? Are all of your children receiving 100% in subtests?

Received our dc's scores! Our child received all exceeds expectations and meets expectations and received no developing. We are happy they did so well but I am surprised at the way the stanines group the percentiles? You can have an 88% in one section and still only be in the 5th or 6th stanine. I guess there are a lot of bright children in this area, which comes to no surprise from all of the students we heard about that received high 90's on the WPPSI. I would be curious to know how our child did compared to others in our grade - without knowing the names. Just to see where she falls comparatively.

So parents with children that gave taken the ERB 's what is the score range? A percentile out if 100 or is it a number between 1-9? Someone mentioned this?

I think they wait until right before the weekend. They want some time for you to digest the materials, and if necessary, ingest enough vodka or valium or whatever it takes to calm the helicoptors down.
