I know this is an old thread, but I think my advice could be useful to someone.
Ask the nurse to circle the area for the trigger shot with a magic marker. It makes doing the injections yourself (or having your partner do it) much easier.

Is there a fertility clinic that you can call there? Honestly, doing the shots are not that bad. I'm on week 8 of doing them myself. Delestrogen (not PIO). I put a large icepack (the kind that you put in coolers) that I put on my injection site (on my upper glut area) for a solid hour plus. At that point, it is so numb I don't feel the needle going in.

Towards the end, I started giving the delestrogen shots to myself. It didn't hurt -- really! (I didn't even use ice.) If it's PIO, your doc might be fine with you switching to the inserts for a week. I went on a work trip to San Diego and I was able to use the inserts, but had to bring the delestrogen.

Also, there are many helpful youtube videos out there.

For the poster traveling to Dublin - you may want to ask your RE if you can switch to vaginal suppositories instead of PIO shots. I've used both methods (injection and suppository) and each has worked equally as well.

Worrying about it is much worse than actually doing it. If you are going to use ice, don't do it for longer than 5-10 mins. It really doesn't hurt that much since there aren't that many nerve endings. And icing for too long can damage your skin.

Do you have a friend that can do it for you? If you were my friend, I'd come over and do it.

PS- I'm like the PP, it was much worse when DH did it. So I've done 12 weeks twice, myself. DH stood there with the gauze and did some massage. But waiting for him to prick me made everything hurt more. When I did it myself, it was so much better. I'd say 1/10 times did I come close to a nerve that made it hurt. The other times, it was mostly nothing or a slight prick. I never used ice.

I am a nurse and I can help you. No charge. Are you in Maryland? I am only licensed in Maryland not DC.
