Unless its your job to be attendance patrol, worry about what YOU are supposed to be doing. If you are attendance patrol I suggest you word things carefully before you end up with egg on your face.

Yes, my office mate did not come in today because his toddler son had a fever and was vomiting over the weekend. He tried to get a pediatrician appointment, but his pediatrician's office was still closed today, so he stayed home with his son. And he's not the type to take off unnecessarily. He had to take off a lot of time recently because he was going to be in a use-it-or-lose-it situation, so he took a number of half-days to cut down his vacation overage. I fully believe him when he says that his son is sick.

I don't. Way too many details.

You can't beat my coworkers away from work with a stick. They come in to try to get ahead and save their leave to stay on top of their work.

I am still working because their tasks are now assigned to me. You must be a SAHM.

We were expecting 3 people in the office today, me and two others. Everyone showed up, though one showed up a half hour later than expected. At noon one went home with a "headache." At 12:30 the other one went home because she had no work to do. I am here. I am thinking of leaving an hour early because I "didn't take a lunch hour today."

I usually don't pass judgement until the person returns and appears to be 100% healthy or still slightly sick.

If you aren't their manager, MYOB. Do your work and stop worrying about what your coworkers are doing.

Anonymous wrote:I called in sick. I am actually sick. The whole family is scheduled to leave tomorrow for a vacation and I feel horrible, and I still have to pack (yes, that's always left entirely to me). I can barely move, and I just got out of bed, even though I'm usually up at 6.

I feel bad for the people in the same plane with you.

My company allows work from home. They're constantly posting on facebook. If they can post on facebook, they can work from home.

Please, they are not sick.

Glad I don't work in your office. What a juvenile policy.
