+1. I think having your realtor ask the seller's realtor is completely reasonable. There may well be a simple explanation but I'd proceed with caution too. Keep in mind that the sellers probably won't lie but they may not tell you the full truth. I.e., they might have multiple reasons for moving (bad neighbor + not enough space) but only tell you the one that doesn't sound as bad/scary to a potential buyer. Definitely talk to neighbors and if you get a ratified contract, get a thorough inspection.

I'd like to add to the chorus of potential reasons they have for wanting to sell so quickly. We just bought a house a few months ago with plans to do renovations. Well, it is now looking like the renovations will be more complicated and costly than we anticipated (partly because we underestimated costs, partly because we keep thinking of more things we want to do). We still plan to proceed because we love the house and location, but if that weren't the case I could see us having second thoughts.

OP, I wouldn't think this is weird at all, there are lots of reasons already given here that would be perfectly normal reasons to sell after a short time.

We are in a home right now, that we only bought 6 months ago but are planning to sell in the near future. Maybe this summer. The house is brand new construction and absolutely beautiful, but I just can't get comfortable in it at all. I've posted on here about this before. It's large and I'm just not used to it and I've tried but I would rather go back to living in a townhouse or a small home with a tiny yard.

I'm sure it would be a great option for someone else though. I wouldn't try to sell it for over what we bought for but at the same time we would not be able to sell it for too much less b/c we are still already going to take a hit on the realtor fees and closing costs. So if it takes a year, then we would just wait it out. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with our home so we are in no big hurry to leave so we could wait for the right buyer. Could be the same situation with this home your looking at.

I did this as well and boy did we dodge a crazy neighbor bullet! I went around after noticing the immediate neighbor was fostering 6 dogs in the little front yard, broken windows, gas tanks in the back yard, absentee owner. Meeting the neighbors was even more enlightening, as was going to the questionable use and meeting all the college students renting each bedroom! Real shame, beautiful house, neighborhood ad other neighbors!!

In the case of a quick back to market. Maybe they just had to leave for another job or job offer??

OP where is the house located? Maybe they bought where they could afford, but it meant a long commute. Maybe they realized the commute is not for them. Or maybe their job location moved and they now have a longer commute.

We bought a house with a long commute because it was what we could afford, but we put it on the market about a year after we bought and it took about a year to sell.

You don't think it's weird the house was on the market for a year? It's not overpriced at all.
