Who is it OP. It is nothing to us, either way, but you could gauge opinions on how excited people might be to see them and if it would be a positive or negative.

Yay.
Surprises are no good, btdt.
"Who let the dogs out? WHO? WHO?"

OMG. Well, that's a story. And you seem to have a good attitude about it.

On a side note, if you got Pearl Jam to play at my wedding I would not be married anymore because I would embarrass myself by trying to go home with Eddie Vedder.

Just how well do you know the musician?

It's an awful lot to ask, particularly if it would require travel.

Your friend's feelings about the musician aside, I think it's too much to ask unless he knows the friend too.

OP, great idea - in concept. Ask your friend NOW if she is a fan of the "Leg Warmers". Then ask (depending on her answer) if that could be her wedding present from you. I really like the idea of the band. NEVER, EVER surprise ANY bride, however.

Ummm thanks?

If you got U2 to play my wedding, it would be the best wedding present ever and I would love you forever. If you got the Cars to play my wedding, I would not like to be surprised by that and I would say self-centered and douchey.

Probably not as a surprise at the wedding (although I would have loved it, so you might know your friend well enough to know if she would). I wouldn't have cared if a rock concert overshsdowed the wedding a bit because I hate being the center of attention and it would make a great story to tell later. I also agree that the wedding makes a bigger impact than the bachelorette and more people could enjoy it.

Unless your musician friend explicitly told you otherwise, he was probably still thinking he'd get PAID to "play a nice wedding." Nothing you've said so far indicates that you're going to ask if you can hire him, and for even a second tier pop star it won't come cheap. But it would be horribly tacky of you to ask him expecting him to do it for free.

Such an awesome idea for the bachelorette party!!! And even for the wedding, assuming you ask your friend first and she says yes.

Personally, I would have LOVED it. But a bit less so if it were a surprise . . . I agree with everyone who said NO SUPRISES on the wedding day!!!

Alright, who is this artist?

I think the wedding day would be more memorable than the bachelorette party. Especially if she adores this band/person. Quincy Jones for a bachelorette but Jay-Z for a wedding reception.

Lovely idea and you sound like a good friend. But I'd vote no on surprising the bride on her wedding day.

Another vote for no, for all the reasons mentioned, plus the fact that the band may overshadow the couple.

Love the bachelorette idea, can I come?
