I used Widra too and had an "unexplained" diagnosis at 35. But I was never pushed to do IVF. I had two successful pregnancies with IUI plus meds. SG is a factory, no doubt. But most infertility practices are.

OP, why don't you do sperm analysis? When we hadn't conceived in 8 months, that was the next step. Testing is cheap and fast.

I previously had a great experience with Dr Durso, but can no longer recommend her. We were successful with baby #1 after multiple IUIs. Came back to her for baby #2 this year and moved on to IVF because we'd used all IUI coverage but had some IVF coverage. We also opted to do PGS testing due to my age and were very clear with her that we planned to do testing on d5 after retrieval. She pushed us into testing on d3 and never disclosed that she doesn't have the equipment to biopsy and test on d5 (a friend I'd referred was getting ready to start a cycle and got her to admit that she can't do d5 biospy for PGS). I definitely believe that we would have had more normal embryos and a successful pregnancy with d5 testing and a better lab. We did a frozen transfer after a failed fresh transfer and the thaw was only 50% (most clinics today are able to achieve thaw in excess of 95%). We're switching to GIVF for round 2 and my friend has already moved to GIVF for her first round.

I did not find SGF to be an IVF factory. Yes, they do a lot of IVF's, but they also do a lot of other ART procedures because they have lots of patients.

I started with them at 40 and bad numbers. They suggested IVF, but were fine with me trying TI with clomid and medicated IUI. Didn't move on to IVF until 43. By then they suggested DE, but were fine when I said I wanted to try OE IVF first. I didn't move on to DE until 44.

Dr Saffan and Jill (who's gone) and Pam have been nothing but helpful and encouraging without pressuring me.

Don't be afraid of SGF just because they do lots of IVFs.

Loved Dr Durso. She's not really warm and fuzzy, but does provide a lot of individual attention. When I got pregnant after my second round of IVF I felt like the entire office staff was genuinely happy for me. I hated going back to my regular OB where I felt like a number.

I met Dr. Durso six years ago when I did my first IVF and I have a success pregnancy twice with Dr. Durso my kids now are 6 years old and 3 years old. Dr. Durso is an outstanding in every level and Lisa was a big help. I met her first time her office was small office in VA
Dr. Durso discovered from first visit that i have thyroid problem and I need to take care of this immediately without even blood test. And after I start the medication and blood test. We proceed with first IVF. I couldn't believe that I got pregnant from first cycle
What I like about her business that her practice doesn't treat you as number. She spend time discuss with you every details. I have referred some of my friends to her practice and all of them said the same about her. Good luck with your trial.

And you be pregnant with her. Don't go to the manifacture Shady grove at all no matter what

I can't comment on the success rate of Dr. Durso yet, but this is the only doctor's office where I walk out every single time thinking how much I LOVE the staff and doctor. I've never waited for more than a few minutes, I'm almost always out before my actual appointment time has begun. Her staff is wonderful and so helpful. I am always able to reach someone when I have a question or concern. They have been wonderful helping sort out my insurance as well. Dr. Durso isn't super warm and fuzzy but she has been a great doctor and is direct while still having a personal touch.

I did two rounds of IUIs with Dr. Durso. The first round ended in miscarriage (not her fault) and I am not 4 months pregnant on the second round. Dr. Durso is absolutely great! She is an expert, and I trust her advice. She is patient and very patient-centric. You will get a lot of individualized attention. She and her nurses always returned call very promptly. Never waited more than an hour to hear back. Her nurses are greaT! She will absolutely work around your schedule and/or any concerns you may have about any of the procedures. DH and I only wished that we could continue to see her as our OB/GYN. She is fantastic and I highly recommend.

I thought she was nice and the office was warm. Until I had an ectopic pregnancy & torsed ovary as a result of fertility treatments following a cycle with her ( of course not her fault--just how she handled it).I was in so much pain. She, nor the NP would return my calls, & I had to scramble to find a OB/GYN that I didn't know (ended up performing emergency surgery after meds for the ectopic failed). Finally the NP from Durso's office got on the phone & she said that insurance would only cover fertility services (not true)...now that I was pregnant, it wasn't her problem. I felt in pain, desperate & alone. The new OB I found called her and gave her an earful.

Tried again a few years later at Shady Grove & had 2 successful pregnancies. They had great success rates & followed me through 8 weeks of pregnancy.

She's great. Small and very personal practice. Good Luck!

How is not being able to perform an IUI not about medicine? I'm not talking about an IUI not resulting in a pregnancy, but actually not being able to perform an IUI.
