Uh, it's supposed to be? It's mostly resort wear. The motto is "the good life", which involves sun, water and boats, not downtown office buildings.

I saw a family friend's 20 year old son wearing it the other day and my husband I both commented after about why would any 20 year old college kid want to convey a country club message to the world. Weird. In my world, college is about independence and freedom and figuring yourself out. Not about sending a message that your parents have money. And I don't say that in a "the 1% suck" kind of way. I mean I really can't fathom a 20 year old wanting to give off a country club message. And the stuff isn't even expensive - so it's not like you're sending a "I'm rich" message.
Seriously? I wore those kind of clothes in college. Not vineyard vines of course because it didn't exist, but Pappagallo, Carroll Reed, Lilly, LL Bean, etc. It was pretty commonplace then, just as VV is pretty commonplace on many college campuses today. Not all kids need to look like slobs in college.
