King Arthur Flour's shortbread recipe is the best, even better than Martha's.
the key is to use SALTED butter with confectioner's sugar. I usually mix in 2 tbsp orange or clementine zest w/ 1 tsp OJ instead of vanilla or almond extract. I do a dark chocolate (minimum 63% cacao content) glaze.

I'm normally not a snot about things like this, but it pisses me off. The cookie part tastes nasty, and the whole joy of an exchange is the wonderful variety of interesting cookies you get to try.

The other cookie I can't stand is the peanut butter Hershey's kiss cookie. They must be easy to make because at least three or four people always bring them. But at lteas they're homemade.


oh I love the PB hershey kiss cookies...but can't stand the cheater cookies!! really?! at least just make chocolate chip - they're easy enough and most people like them!
