@19:50 my sentiments exactly, there's a decent number of students at every school that go on, an pursue a college education. Again, my nephew graduated from a DCPS school and was accepted into Harvard and no he didn't attend Wilson, SWW, Banneker, Phelps, CHEC or McKinley Tech.

WTF is wrong with you people. Do your research if want to dig deeper into Wilson's stats. The list posted was found from a previous on this topic. It is not a complete list. It's almost as if folk can't accept information at face value. There's Ivies on the list so it must be just ONE kid that got into them all or We need to know if kids actually graduated from the school they attended. Bottom line is a decent number of Wilson students go to good colleges and do wonderful things. End of story.

Considering Wilson has an extremely large AA student body, it is very strange that HBCU's are missing from the list of 2008. Now if you want to impress me show me the list of 2008 that actually graduated in 4-years from their college/university.

I would like to apologized to the OP. I should have known better. I get upset when I read about some DCUM think that Ivy's or bust for their kids and I jumped to conclusions. You were just trying to find out the choices of colleges past Wilson students are attending. My son was an average student (AA) at Wilson and played sports. He just graduated from VCU and getting his Masters in Sports Med at VCU.
You and your child will be afforded an opportunity to check out a variety of colleges. The counseling staff really helped us out. Being a single dad was stressful time but it turned out great.

I know two families on my block that have had 5 children between them graduate from Wilson and go on to college over the past 20 years (the youngest is currently in college). They have all gotten into very good schools (not ivies), they all graduated on time, the oldest is now on faculty at a top 20 university. As far as I know they all graduated from college on time.

Educated and involved parents, all the kids went through a JKLM, Deal, and Wilson. All the kids are intelligent and articulate adults with good social skills.

With regard to one of the issues raised by posters at 13:34 and 13:55, I am well aware at this point that I don't know what college will be a good fit for my child. That's why I've started this thread. I know that elite kids from Wilson - from any school - get into iIvies. And I know there are kids at Wilson who won't graduate or won't go on to college.

So what I'm trying to find out is what happens to the smart but not elite kids in between? Kids who get decent but not incredible grades...kids who do OK on SATs, but not in the top 1%...kids that are good at some stuff, but not good at others. What I want to know is whether kids like this that go to Wilson end up with the opportunity to attend a high-quality college that will be a good fit for them.

There has been some constructive answers to this question, and I appreciate them. If anyone else has experience or info to share, I would appreciate it.
