WTF? My parents are 69 and 71...been in the home since 1974, they still go to Gold's Gym everyday, mow their own lawn, etc. 45 years in that house and knees have never been an issue.

They're lucky. You never can predict when arthritis will strike. In my life, I've climbed to the top of bell towers in Florence, cathedrals in London, and Diamond Head in Wakiki, but now have a hard time scaling the steps in our townhouse. Life happens.
What you are describing is tourism excursions. My mother has arthritis and plays on a tennis league and pumps iron at the gym. It helps her arthritis. Not everyone allows themselves to get old and decrepit.
