Ok just asked my dh his opinion-he said he would have bought it (not that particular house cause we don't like it) but at any discount he would buy a house he likes despite its history. I wouldn't be able to sleep there alone. Ever! But apparently it doesn't bother some people.

That house was priced at least $100k below market value, but it seemed like everyone knew the story. Definitely google the address of any house before you buy it, in this case many news articles appear. It's definitely a very unfortunate situation, I wouldn't feel comfortable living in that house for any price.

There is a humungous home being built in a nearby neighborhood where the previous owner killed himself with a shotgun 2 years a go.

There's death in a house, and then there are 2 brutal murders in the same house. I'm not particularly superstitious, and I'd certainly buy a house where someone died of old age/natural causes, but I wouldn't knowingly buy a house that someone was murdered in.

None of this really makes any sense considering the age of most houses around here. I would imagine most of us have had someone die in our homes at some point if your house is over 30 years old and you would have no idea.
It's not a great thought but realistically it's possible. Not that I would want to buy the house op is talking about since it's pretty morbid but you get my point

I didn't buy a "murder house" but I did buy a house where both old people died in it. It was in Chevy Chase and it was a STEAL! It was on the market forever. Best investment we ever made.

If the owners are not aware, in this case I do hope that a neighbor informs them.

They are actually forbidden from talking about crime in the area or a home. That being said, that house was not cheap enough given its history.
