Actually my DH is Gary and his mother is Mary. To be honest, I have never thought about it before. If this caused any angst or embarrassment in his childhood, he certainly has never mentioned it.

I think it s fine. That said, my dd and i have similar names - think Farah and Serena. not exactly rhyming, but they have certain ring to them.
