Hell, no. I stay away from the stores during that entire weekend. Hate the crowds!

Ok, so if employees refuse to be at work by 9pm on thanksgiving, then they get fired, and the store is closed on black Friday!
How about employees only agree to work later, not 9 pm, will they still get fired and will the store be closed on black Friday too?

My cousin works at Target. She's a single mom and relatively new to this country. She is actually grateful to work on Thanksgiving evening because she gets paid time and a half, since it's a holiday. We are watching her kids so she can make some money. So, not all of these employees are being held hostage to work-some actually need every dime they get to put food on the table. I don't think a lot of people on this forum really and truly "get" that.

Not shopping on holidays. I hate to encourage them to keep their employees there.

We used to go to the movies on Thanksgiving all the time. We eat early anyway. See no problem with a trip to Target. I'm guessing they'll be pretty busy.

Have you guys ever been to a Starbucks on Thanksgiving?? They are PACkED! People love to get out of the house and away from family for a bit.

Won't be shopping at stores or online. I don't want anything that bad.

No way. It's kind of sick that these stores cannot stay closed for one day, and that people will actually shop on Thanksgiving. I will not do ANY holiday shopping at either place.

I shop on black friday, but not super early or anything. I check out sales and buy things that I need (kitchen appliances, luggage, etc). I'm a poor and need to buy things on sale.

All you have to do is not shop there on black friday. They are making the workers work against their will, they have to be at work at 9 pm on thanksgiving day. Nobody is allowed time off

Surely this is the least we can do

Um, it's "boycott." And while it's a noble thought, I don't think it will make any difference.

I don't leave the house on Thanksgiving day anyway, except maybe for a walk around the block.

I'll be shopping. Flame away.

I work long hours and we have no family around anyway, so it's a good use of my time on a day I wouldn't be working.
