I also don't get the big deal about 2 Amy's - tried it, thought it was ok, too crowded, too long of wait etc... Personally DH has mastered pizza at home so I get pickier and picker about pizza out.

Two Amy's is Italian pizza. Just like in Naples. Pete's is American pizza. They are both awesome, but you can't really compare them.

The one time I ate there, Pete's was about the most disgusting pizza I ever had.

Floppy, wet slices; not enough sauce. Ridik. Pete's is as close as you'll get to NY pizza in DC.

Two Amys pizza is as close to pizza from Rome as I've eaten in DC. Maybe there's a place I haven't tried, but this is pretty authentic. They even have DOC ingredients. Their suppli are ridiculous - haven't found other restaurants that make them. And at restaurants in Italy kids run all over the place all the time and there's no rush to get in and out quickly, for what it's worth ... I know we're not in Italy, but it is an Italian restaurant. I wish I could eat there all the time.

People... why don't you branch out? There are plenty of good pizza places in DC. Try Red Rocks in Columbia Heights, Menomale, and Seventh Hill. No need to squabble. Just find your favorite. Pizza Paradiso also generally does a decent job.

2 Amy's best during weekend day for us. We save dinners for comet or Pete's. no plan it just works out that way.

All of our kids have run wild and we used strollers at 2 Amy's and comet. Guilty as charged!!

Why would you let your kids run around inside a restaurant? I wouldn't dream of doing that so just curious if I am missing something about 2 Amy's -- do you let your kids run around in all restaurants or just that one?

New Yorker here. I think Pete's is close.

And yes, I've heard it's the water.

Native New Yorker here. This ^+1

I like Comet Ping Pong's whole menu. It does get super loud at 6pm on a Friday though. We try to go for mid afternoons on the weekend.

I like Pete's just fine. Their pizza lasts for about 10 minutes after being taken off the hot plate though.

Went to 2 Amy's once a long time ago. Don't feel the need to go again.

Ah, unless your two teen sons have eaten pizza around the US I think will discount their opinion - stick with Ledo's.
I love the hate on here though - will make it easier to get a table.

Definitely agree - Comet is much worse than 2 Amy's. As a Chicagoan who lived for years in New Haven, I think Ledo's rocks compared to anything else posted thus far. After that, I will grudgingly go with Pete's.

My teen sons, who have eaten plenty of pizza in their lives, said Two Amys was 'okay'. We had to wait a long time to be seated and were crammed in at a table; it was also so noisy we could barely hear each other. No thanks.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was underwhelmed.

Love Pete's.

BTW they have gluten-free now too (fairly recent addition). We go more often now that DS can get his own and we don't have to bring it from home.
