I understand. I felt the pressure as the family name has now died out on my mum's side and also on my dad's side as there are no procreating males and I'm female. My husband and his parents are the only ones in the US with his last name, and even back home, their name is a lengthier version of the name. So our kids now share that name.
So, the blood's there with my kids on my side, but not in name, and that's kind of sad. It feels like recent members of my family are now reduced to old names in a family tree that no on even has any stories about anymore.... you existed... so what?
