These cheapest wines I find drinkable are Tisdale and Three Wishes cabernet sauvignon from Whole Foods, which is under $4. I drink about half a bottle and use the rest for cooking.

Tisdale makes a chocolate wine that sounds horrible but has its uses.

+1. We often open nicer bottles, but when you just want a glass, the Black Box Sauvignon Blanc is a great choice - and it's 20 bucks or so for the equivalent of 4 bottles.
