We got mailed delivered today. Our mail carrier is a wonderful person in general, but what a trooper! (I cannot believe though the supervisors at the US Mail wouldn't ask their people to stay home, so silly.)

The midwife works with Birthcare, but she also has her own practice.

I watched her save a baby's life last week--born with an Apgar of 1. She was amazing. But even she can't dodge a falling tree, so she will be in my prayers today.

Yes thank you. I have always wanted to be a first responder. Now that I just had a baby my thoughts have changed. what if I had to go out today and leave my 11 month old at home with dad and what if I didn't make it back. Thank you to all of the first responders who are putting the needs of others first. I am keeping you in my prayers and hoping that you be reunited with your families soon. Thank you for your service and dedication to humanity.

Yes, they are doing their jobs, which is what they sign up for and are paid for. How does that absolve customers, patients, and the public from the courtesy of expressing appreciation. If you have to be so churlish, think of it as appreciation that they took a necessary job with unpleasant requirements so that the rest of us would have those services when we need it.

I for one am very grateful for everyone who takes these difficult and often thankless jobs.

To the PP who questioned if those in first response fields are only fulfilling the jobs they are compensated for, please keep in mind that during the very weather that the general public is urged to stay safely inside these dedicated individuals are putting their own safety on the line to go out in the worst of worst elements for all of our benefit.

To the OP and the other PPS, and as a wife of one of these first responders, I so appreciate your comments. I do worry for my husband's safety in these situations.
