Yes, they are doing their jobs, which is what they sign up for and are paid for. How does that absolve customers, patients, and the public from the courtesy of expressing appreciation. If you have to be so churlish, think of it as appreciation that they took a necessary job with unpleasant requirements so that the rest of us would have those services when we need it.
I for one am very grateful for everyone who takes these difficult and often thankless jobs.
