I don't plop my kids in front of the TV very often. Quite rarely in fact. No way in hell would I send my child to a paid daycare that uses TV or movies.

You know if this were the only thing a preschool did that I didn't like, I think I'd be ok with it especially if it was otherwise fantastic, but it just seems the preschool and daycares that offer TV also have a lot of other problems about them. And it makes no sense to have TV with infants whatsoever.

One movie once a week is not a deal breaker to me.

Once a week is too much. I know that it was done sometimes in the summer at our daycare but never during the year with the exception of when there were days on end of rainy or snowy weather and then they may have done one movie day.

TV is good. Some of the content is a bit sketchy, but this hysteria over "screen time" is grossly overblown.

I don't exactly agree. I do let my son watch TV (he's 3). He gets one or two half hour programs a day. I wouldn't say that they're "good" for him in the way that independent play or play with me would be. But I don't think they're "bad" for him either. It's just a way for him to relax a little bit and have some down time. If, however, I gave him as much screen time as he wanted, he'd be watching Yo Gabba Gabba from the time that he got up in the morning till the time that he went to sleep at night.

I don't think a movie is appropriate for an infant. For my 3.5 year old, I'd be fine with it once a week. Can't they do something else with the infants during this time?
