Oh, brother. We have had federal laws allowing women to sue for pay discrimination for 40 years: title VII and the equal pay act. The Lilly Ledbetter act didn't create any new substantive rights. It just makes it easier for employees to bring stale claims. OP is right that this is shameless pandering.
