Gees, this is not an underserved area in terms of medical care. I can't think of any place in the D.C. metro area that would be considered far from a hospital. Never considered this when searching for a home. The desire to live so close to a hospital assumes you will be home when you have a medical emergency. Now if one of my children had some type of serious chronic condition and needs prompt medical care, then of course, living close to a hospital matters. But really, my goodness!

.67 miles according to Endomondo. I love it. Not much noise either. Helicopter traffic only during the day, everything else goes to Fairfax after hours.

I am a truly paranoid person, the one family normally makes fun of whenever I open my mouth to express some kind of worry. I am happy to see I am still not at the bottom of the barrell. I never considered the hospital proximity when we were looking for our home (one reason we DID NOT buy a house was that it was half a block from Suburban in Bethesda). but we are in NW DC so we are less than 10 minutes from more than one hospital. I did consider this issue when I planned our vacation abroad since our DD has epilepsy.

This goes with the posting about deciding whether to live in Virginia or Maryland based on the performance of PEPCO.

Short drive to GWU hospital, Georgetown, Sibley, Washington Hospital Center, Children's. We're in NW DC.

Five minutes to Holy Cross.

We live 5 minutes from VHC in Arlington and a short drive from Georgetow, Sibley, and Inova Fairfax, but as others have said, if you are in the closer in suburbs you will be near something.

I'd rather live closer the the fire department.

Yes, I have considered it when looking. No, I would not live out in the country.

We are 10 minutes from one hospital and 20 minutes from another.

Maybe 5-7 minutes? But the Children's ER is even closer (Reston Hospital).
