It's called customer service, something lacking in American business anymore. And those two girls were scheduled until at least 8:30 anyway.

OP again, yep that was me. As I stated I worked retail and fast food as a teenager and my parents often waited or I called when i was done and waited for them. OP again. I worked in both fast food and retail. I used to leave a good 30 minutes to an hour after closing depending on how many customers arrived last minute. Perhaps the rules have changed now. It was always part of closing and just somethign we knew would and could happen. Oh and we always got paid until we left, whoever did not, well that is illegal and you should not have allowed that.
Thanks for the replies, I honestly thought the girls were trying to pull one over based on my experience when I worked in fast food and reatail. I guess that was 15 years ago so times have obvously changed. lol

Often teen girls get picked up by family for a ride home in the evenings - so that means that the ride is also sitting waiting late too. Inconvenienced parents are not happy folks.

No I wasnt going to DIE without subway but I was pretty desparate. My son has training sessions that are 50 minutes from my house. The sessions are from 7:30 to 10pm. Usually I pack a dinner that he can eat on the way home since we dont get back home until 10pm. I was rushing and didnt have time yesterday so I decided to stop at subway since it's close to where he trains. So yeah, I was pretty desparate to get that subway sanchwich. We do not eat meat so other fast food places arent an option.
Typically I probably would have just kept it moving but because of the situation I really needed to get him a sandwich. When we leave his training we do pass a McDonalds on the way to the highway but none of their sandwiches would work for my son.
I wish there was a chipotle where we were, he loves that much more than subway!
Okay, given your desperate situation, I would have acted grateful when they opened the door and thanked them for being so understanding of my predicament. I wouldn't have pointed to my watch and been all, "Well, it's 7:55." Nobody likes when people show up 2 minutes before closing anyway.

As someone who once worked in a place where people came in right before closing then stayed 30+minutes after closing, I completely understand the girls. I didn't get paid for anything past the end of my shift and they likely don't either so basically I had to sit unpaid watching people eat and over time you start to get pretty resentful. If they don't start putting anything away until after 8:00 then they won't be closed by 8:00. Lots of stores in the mall start bringing in clothing racks etc, they start the closing process before the exact closing time.
This is illegal - if you are working and cannot leave, you should be paid.

I also think that you were wrong, and if I were the owner, I would instruct my employees to NOT open the door for anyone banging on it. You never know if the person's crazy.
Plus, when I arrive at a place that close to closing time, I realize that I am taking a risk and that they may have already locked the doors. The fact that other customers were still in there has nothing to do with it.

Demanding to be served is a little over the top. I'd be a bi worried, too, about what they might have done to your food because they were annoyed.
I would have just gone elsewhere, and probably would have written an e-mail complaining about it.

I think you were wrong, and I would never act like that in a million years. Independent establishments close early all the time if it's slow, and I think nothing of it. Not sure what Subway's policy is on the matter, but if you were that peeved, you could have just come back the next day and talked to a manager about the policy. The girls were left in change and they made their decision. You aren't owed a sandwich.

The subway by our house has the same close early policy. They can close as early as 7:30. I understand your frustration, but I wouldn't have demanded that they let me in either.
