I can see your point for infant or young toddler clothes, but by the time mine were in 2T, they were getting a full year out of each item (wore it two summers or winters in a row, and my kids play hard. High-quality clothing meant that things lasted many washed and lots of rough and tumble outdoor play, so that I don't have to choose between replacing things often or letting my kids go around with holes in their clothes.
