i have beef with the whole rich v. poor talk coming from the party.

i dont hate the rich. hell, i want to be rich and a lot of dems and supporters are rich, so its all a farce.

now im not all out against raising taxes on the rich (within reason) but the entire narrative of attacking rich people puts me off especially coming from people on tv who have money themselves and try to act like they are "average" people. they may have started there but they are rich just the same now.

Democrat - voter ID. You can't get on a plane without ID, and in VA you only need a utiliity bill. Common sense ought to prevail here, if you can get to your polling place, can't you get to your DMV?

Wow, do you really think those two things at the same? My polling place is a block away. The nearest DMV is a 30-minute drive, but since I don't have a driver's license, I don't drive. It would take at least three bus transfers and probably more than an hour to get there via public transportation. Adding the time spent actually at the DMV, and then the trip back, that is half of a day. If someone is working two jobs, spending half a day to do something that must be done during business hours is difficult.

Dem here, I don't mind voter ID if it is implemented slowly and carefully and the State takes responsibility for ensuring that anyone potentially disenfranchised gets an ID. So this might mean accepting veteran ID, social security cards, maybe canvassing to ensure that people likely to be affected are contacted, offering free transportation to the DMV, offering free ID at the DMV, whatever we have to do.

Dem here. I am concerned about free trade. I see all these jobs going overseas. It seems to me that job protectionism is a good idea. Can you hlep me understand why it is not?

Seems to me the only ones who like free trade that allows the outsourcing of jobs would be big business.

I am not referring here to the purchase of goods, solely jobs.

The economy is more global than ever before. We have no choice to compete. Being protectionist only prolongs the inevitable.

As the Bruce Springsteen song lyric says, "the jobs are going, boys/and they ain't coming back."

Time to innovate a new manufacturing base (which is whey I think investments in green technology is wise) and fully transition from an industrial-based economy to an information-based one.

Democrat - money for PBS, NPR, Arts Programs, etc. I think if the government stopped giving, people would give enough to make up the difference. There are to many small museums and programs that are nothing more than pork for Congress. Not increasing immigration enforcement on companies that hire illegal immigrants. People know where the workers are, the government doesnt go after the companies because that would seem anti-business. Set aside government contracts for small, woman owned, minority owned businesses. Anything related to the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. What a waste of money.

Democrat - Gay Marriage (I'm against) and Dream Act (Pay taxes for benefits no matter who you are)

Democrat. Disagree with my party's position on affirmative action and on Israel. We need to MYOB in the Middle East.

I'm a Republican...I disagree with my party's stance on gay marriage. FWIW I'm a practicing Catholic too. I don't understand how gay marriage will undermine or diminish the value of MY marriage.

Independent to the left of Democrats, so I suppose they are my party. I really disagree with their position on capitulation.
