I do this for overworked accounting departments and they are very appreciative.
Please answer this for me -- what exactly IS project management?
It's helping a client/customer reach a particular goal or complete a large scale activity. Project management is applied in many different fields - the more obvious ones include construction and IT. As a basic example a project manager would be responsible for making sure that all resources are in place for a building to be constructed including, staffing, managing the budget and making sure the project is delivered on time. In DC, many contractors provide project management svcs. to the government. In my job I am a project manager for disease prevention campaigns run out of HHS. There is a lot of problem solving involved and helping clients think through strategy and their approach because everything is 10 times more complex when you are trying to deliver for the government. You can also receive a project management credential or PMP which is pretty widely recognized in government contracting circles.
