Gwen Ifill was seriously slammed last time around. The format of the debar was the problem, not the moderator. When you have a debate with a "warning" but no buzzer, what do you expect?

Well, for one, he's 78.

Gwen Ifill would have kept both in check.

He had no control but what we got was an unfiltered debate on the issues for once. I loved it

I thought he sucked all around. He was not up to the task.

He did as good a job as anyone else would have. Sure, another moderator might have shut these guys down, but the format agreed to by the campaigns and the commission for this debate intended for there to be direct interaction between the candidates and an open debate. If he, or someone else, shut them down at every turn we would not have heard them say as much as they did. We got a lot more information out of them last night than we have for months.

I have worked with Jim Lehrer in the past and this was classic Jim...he is nothing if not respectful and composed. Yes, he could have reined them in a bit more, but he tried to insert himself and, frankly, both were disrespectful of his role and disregarded his requests to finish up and move on. Still, it's not his style to be pushy with top officials like the President or the Republican nominee. If he had moderated with an iron fist everyone would have criticized that too...

When you ask a question make them answer that question.Don't cut off one and let the other ramble.Horrible job.
