But the spaces for people with small children at Ikea are not just closer, but wider so you can park your stroller NEXT to your car when loading/unloading kids instead of BEHIND which is what I usually have to do at other places. I have also had a car park so close to me that I was unable to get my 2 month old, who was in his infant carseat, back into the car on his side. Wider spaces for people with small children would solve that problem.

+1 I have had careless and rude people practically take my kid out in a parking lot.

It's not a handicap of course, but a lot of women have complications during pregnancy that limit mobility. Don't use the spot if you don't need it. But many pregnant women benefit from them.
