I thought this was a game thread. You are supposed to reply to the latest link, state what you think and then add your own link, right? If sox you latest posters are playing the game wrong.

For $10K more, we bought a colonial (and I do like ramblers) that's over 3000 sq ft, not counting the basement, a pool and 2 acres on a dead end road.

I hardly think that home is worth that much, nor does it deserve for anyone to waste some good blood, sweat and tears on it!

It's worth no more than $425K, and I'm being generous.

I love how the listing says "Wont last long." It's been on and off the market multiple times over the past 3 years. I think the 1 bathroom is killing it.

Seriously? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this house. While I don't know much about prices in that area and couldn't care to for that matter, it's obviously just priced too high, but is that reason to call it out and make fun of it as if there is some horrible problem with it? I'm sure there and plenty of people who don't have a ton of money and could deal with the busier street who would like it. This place would clean up nicely with a little blood sweat and tears put into it.

I've thought the Reno Rd house was cute forever, too. But it's still a lot of money for a weirdly configured kitchen and for sharing a driveway with the house next door and no alley access. So, it says, "great for entertaining" but since there's no street parking on that part of Reno, said guests are going to hike a ways from where they park to get to dinner.

23:11 here - to those who criticize us for criticizing this house, $540K is not unusual for a tear-down in that neighborhood. The fact that nobody has thought to buy it for that purpose means that they don't think the lot is big enough or good enough to make it worthwhile.

(I managed to find a great house in Yorktown boundary for $560K last year. The house OP posted just wasn't worth the price.)

OP - I *saw* that house last year! The 1 bath is a problem. the old ugly kitchen is a problem. The old ugly sunroom is a problem. the 3rd bedroom had wood paneling when I looked at it. the lot is pretty tiny - no room for adding on. Which you would need to, because there isn't a real dining room, family room, or a basement. (or an attic.) The street was pretty busy, with a lot of people passing by on their way to metro and 66.

and it is literally the exact same price it was when I looked at it last April or May. Despite probably abundant negative feedback, they haven't dropped the price at all.

So...that's what wrong with the house! Why are you so defensive about a house that has not sold 23:22 and 13:49? Something that has been sitting and sitting has something wrong, maybe something not apparent in the listing?

Yeah, the agent (or owners) or someone needs to rip up any and all Astro turf (duh!) move the fridge out of the sun room which could be a nice space, and remove the carpeting from the toilet lid (I know that won't convey but the ick factor is bugging me)

+1. If the house had been staged properly before being put on the market, it probably would have sold already. $540k for a 3BR/ 1BA house in the Yorktown District, walking distance to Metro, is considered a good deal (regardless of 1092 sf, busy road, or that its EFC Metro not Clarendon).

Is a busy road, but other homes on Reno do sell quickly when they're priced correctly. Which this home is not.

Also, they have the distinction of having cleared their entire property of all trees in a neighborhood sought after for its trees. Since I HATE people who do that, I'm outing them and their house.

It is open again today. I don't get the kitchen at all. Why is the fridge so far way from everything? Also, for that price I would like a garage.

i don't know about the pricing, but i like the Reno Road house too. like the PP said, the rear fence is not to my liking (still see thru it), but that should be easy enough of a fix. they should have kept a shade tree or two in the back, but otherwise everything else looks solid.

I love this house except that darn baby blue paint. Something about that fence though, the design irks me.

Maybe I'm just tired after a long week, but did I see a purple counter top in the bathroom?

Oh, its there with flair!

This house has been on and off the market forever. I'm guessing because its only 3 bedrooms for $1.5? And I believe it used to be listed for much more. It's also on a pretty main corner, but still. I figure there has to be some issue with the sellers. A divorce, perhaps?

House is way too big with too many rooms that all look the same, it's in the middle of nowhere and you can't walk to anything, and half the house is a garage.

Maybe there have been some major issues during the home inspection that the seller isn't willing to fix
