I have never had an issue with my kids viewing educational videos in school. They are used to supplement the classroom discussion. Many kids are visual learners, and it is much easier to explain some concepts with a video.
I guess the people who are anti-video also feel that t.v. is evil and that there is nothing good your child can possibly learn from a t.v. show?

I understand computers and smart boards are embedded in the curriculum. I think there's probably an overemphasis on technology for the sake of technology but whatever.
On the other hand, when my kid was in k it seemed like once a week or two they would watch a 20-30 minute video, like Magic Schoolbus, and to me that is using video as a crutch. Of course I don't think my kid was tainted, but I think it's perfectly reasonable for parents to be surprised/disappointed if that's happening.
I did not make a stink out of it and overall I am very happy with MoCo schools, but that doesn't mean I think they are perfect.
