OP here. I can honestly see why people dislike public school. I did attend back to school night and only one other parent showed up. It was sad. I couldn't even talk to other parents to see how their children are doing. The teacher seems nice but come on, they all do. What happens after the door closes, I have no idea, but it always sounds negative when I ask my child. I will just keep an eye out on it for now and I understand requesting an aid is probably pointless. Do you think switching kindergarten classes would help at all? Has anyone done this? Or would it be too confusing for my child?

They are told to report a lot of stuff to the principal that could be handled by just having more assistants. This actually makes their job harder.
I am not excusing a teacher yelling at the kids. I just can't imagine how patient they would have to be to handle so many young children all by themselves, and not have the support of assistants. My sons preschool at several assistants per class, and their educational goals were not as ambitious as they are for public K.
I'm sorry you are having the concern and I feel your pain!
