Same happened to me, they eventually changed my due date as I wasn't as far along as thought. DS was born 10 days early and weighed almost 11 pounds. He's 4 now, and perfect. Try not to worry too much ?

That seems very reasonable to me. After loss my doctors have been very accomodating for my subsequent pregnancies. I really like my new practice, they've given me an ultrasound at every appointment so far.

PP here. The thing that worries me is that I have known about this pregnancy since Dec. 20th. So if I am only 7 weeks, I would have literally conceived the day that I found out I was pregnant which is not possible (obviously). As it is, I must have tested positive about a week after conception which is still pretty iffy. I was really expecting to be further along than I originally thought -- not smaller.

The midwife didn't say a word about seeing me again to check on the growth of the fetus and didn't seem concerned in the slightest, but I think I'm going to call on Monday and insist. I have had 2 miscarriages before, and I can't handle waiting another full month to hear that it's happening again. I hate being pushy, but it sounds like it is a pretty reasonable request. Right?

My midwife wasn't going to do an early ultrasound until I told her that I was pretty sure I ovulated on day 32 of my cycle -- not day 14, which is when most women are assumed to have ovulated and the date by which dude ares are calculated if a dating ultrasound isn't performed. I was charting. Based on last menstrual period, I should be about 2.5 weeks farther along than I am. Dating ultrasound confirmed my suspected (very late) ovulation date.

I'm only ten weeks along now and next week I have the nt scan and they'll compare the baby's growth. I don't know what they'll find. For now, I just want you to know that measuring small could just be that you ovulated later in your cycle than was presumed.

I know you're not sure when you ovulated. If you typically have very long or irregular cycles, that would increase the chances that you just ovulatd later, that your baby isn't really too small.

Ok, so if you ovulated late the sperm can still live up to 5-7 days. Combined with fumbling of the machine, it's still possible.

Are they going to see you again for a follow up? I'd push to come back in within a few days or ask for a referral to a real sonographer for a dating scan.

Yes, today's measurement would be 2 weeks behind if measuring by my last period. I tried to calculate when we would conceived, and I had myself at 8 weeks, 1 day today. I'm not exactly sure when we had sex, but there's not a whole lot of it going around these days (2 kids under 4), so there aren't too terribly many days when it could've happened.

If you aren't sure when you conceived, are you basing it off the first day of your last menstrual cycle only? That's always been badly inaccurate for me. I ovulate much later in my cycle than is "typical" and I am positive of that because I chart. My embryos have always measured behind what they should be based on last cycle.

Bumping this up. Just had my first u/s today. By my calculations, I should have been a little over 8 weeks. Midwife measures fetus at 6 weeks, 6 days. Heartbeat was good, and we saw it flickering. I want to be optimistic, but I"m also concerned that something is wrong. She did seem to be fumbling with the equipment a bit, and I'm not at all sure of when I conceived. Anyway, would love feedback.

I'm sorry for your loss. The fact remains that an overwhelming majority of miscarriages occur prior to 9 weeks. Does this mean there are no miscarriages after 9 weeks? Of course not. But if you see a heartbeat at 9 weeks (also assuming that fetal age is accurate), the probability a miscarriage does drop significantly. The loss rate between 8.5 weeks and birth is about 2%.

Some good news here... measured small at first (a full week behind based on ovulation) and had to go in for blood tests often for the first few weeks. I was so scared, but it turns out I probably just ovulated later that particular month. I'm tracking just fine with my week later due date. 36 weeks and all is perfect.

With my first pregnancy, I was off by about a week. Totally normal, healthy pregnancy and baby. With the second, I was off by nearly two weeks, and that ended in miscarriage.

At my 7 wk appt I had a heartbeat and measured small they changed my due date to a week later. I'm currently 22 weeks with a very active healthy boy who measured with long legs like his daddy. Good Luck and congrats to your family and SIL.

I had an u/s at exactly 7 weeks and saw heartbeat but embryo was measuring 6 w 4 days.

Got another u/s at 9 weeks and the measurement was 8 w 4 days. At that appointment, ob adjusted the due date - said fetus must have implanted relatively late, since I was positive of the dates of period and ovulation. He told me miscarriage chances were very low at that point.

Had nt u/s at 12 w 6 days and fetus looked good and caught up one of the three days it was behind.

To 17:31, I did IVF too and measured 6 days small at 8 week sonogram. Dr told me +-7days is considered normal. My baby is three month old now!
