This has been our experience, too.

We have clear and solid and prefer the clear tiles but are glad to have the accessories in the 48 pc. solid set.

Thanks everyone. I know my DD enjoys them because she plays with them at daycare and apparently can play with them as long as they will let her. I knew about the flooding at the factory and have been waiting months to be able to order them. I just saw they were available again (and not at $200+) so I jumped on it. But then I was having some buyer's remorse. It is a lot of money. And is a box of 100 big enough to keep 2 kids entertained if she has a play date?

Wow, they are expensive but I think they are worth it. My 6 yr old girl and 4 yr old boy play with them all the time - right now, in fact.

I'm a PP, with the 5.5 year old who still plays with them daily. Adults like them too, FWIW. If the six year old likes to build stuff, they should last him another few years. My son plays with them with is ninjago legos too. Definitely great for the four year old.

My kids are quite a bit older so this is the first I've heard of Magna Tiles. However, my nephews are 6 and 4, and I'm looking for a Christmas gift for them. Would they be in the range to enjoy Magna Tiles or are they too old?

Yes! My son absolutely loves them. He has a lot of toys that he plays imaginatively with but not like his Magna Tiles. He loves constructing elaborate buildings, and plays with them for about 45 minutes every day... Beyond what he has ever done with his blocks, for sure.

Definitely keep them. Similar to PP -- my DD got a set at 3 and has pretty much played with them almost every day since then. My 2 year old DS also likes them, but not quite as much yet.

My son got his at age 3.5. He's played with them daily for two years. He uses them for everything. Garages for matchbox cars. Houses for playmobil people. Construction sets for his cranes to "build." you name it.

I teach Head Start (4-year-olds) and have several sets in the classroom. They are always the "hot" learning center, and I have to keep a checklist of students who have been there, or else some kids would never play anywhere else. I have found the most (but not all) of my students love them. Are they worth $110 for one child? Depends on your budget, but they are definitely high-quality and can be played with in many ways.
