I fear what moronic things my kids might do before they know better. The internet never forgets and it can be such a dangerous tool.
Look at all the man power involved in responding to the reaction in the Middle East. One american set this off. Mindboggling.
As a Jew, it is all the more painful to me to know this man was Jewish on so many levels. He has made his country less safe, he represented Jews poorly and his fellow Jews are even bigger targets now.

Now we know this guy's video did not spark a protest outside our Libyan embassy, that in fact there was no protest at all when the terrorists attacked and murdered 4 Americans. We know that this filmmaker does not share responsibility in this.
Do any of these posters want to take back what you wrote? Anyone else on this thread? The PP is mine, and I can say I still stand behind what I wrote. My only regret is that I took Obama's administration at their word when they said this started as a protest over an offensive video.

How backward are you people? A guy made a video. The video was on the internet. And then a bunch of other people killed 4 people. And you blame the internet and the guy who made the video?
Please explain to me how making a hateful video is worse than killing people because you're angry? The problem isn't people making videos. The problem is killing people simply because you're angry at them.
When Nikki Minaj was mocking Catholicism at the Grammy's, I didn't become enraged and start killing people. I turned off the tv.

I do not know if this video is a free speech thing. It seem like a part of a plan to destabilize the middle east and cause the US problems. I would like this investigated and see where it goes. This could be part of a terrorist operation. It would be a very smart play and very hard for us to stop. We already know what the results of films/stuff like this does in parts of the muslim world. I bet all the key players with the films production are out of the country.

Why on earth should the filmmaker be brought up on charges? For criticizing a religious figure? Making fun of someone's faith? Depicting a religious figure in unseemly situations?

Do I agree with what he did, no. Does he share responsibility, yes. But what he did is no different than artists who deface crucifixes, depict Jesus in negative ways, etc. The blame lies solely at the hands of the fanatics.

Free speech. It is one of our most precious freedoms. Just because a certain group feels death is the best argument against free speech does not mean we should start punishing our citizens for criticizing beliefs, expressing themselves through art, etc.

Yup, it's the internet you should be fearing... Not!
It doesn't matter who "set this off" - what matters is, what has been set off. And it's massive murderous rage over some youtube video. That there are millions of people like that in the world is what is scary. There is nothing scary about Jones or whoever else produces this kind of offensive stuff. There are billions of things out there that could offend me but I am not going to as much as spit on anyone over them.

Oh no, its okay to make fun of Christianity. Don't you dare say anything about Islam. Remember the terrible movie 2012? BIg summer blockbuster a few years ago? There was a scene where the oceans destroy all the monuments, Vatican, Jesus in Brazil etc, one of them was Mecca. Well that leaked and the Muslims threatened to kill him.
