I fear what moronic things my kids might do before they know better. The internet never forgets and it can be such a dangerous tool.
Look at all the man power involved in responding to the reaction in the Middle East. One american set this off. Mindboggling.
As a Jew, it is all the more painful to me to know this man was Jewish on so many levels. He has made his country less safe, he represented Jews poorly and his fellow Jews are even bigger targets now.

Why on earth should the filmmaker be brought up on charges? For criticizing a religious figure? Making fun of someone's faith? Depicting a religious figure in unseemly situations?
Not illegal here in America.
Do I agree with what he did, no. Does he share responsibility, yes. But what he did is no different than artists who deface crucifixes, depict Jesus in negative ways, etc. The blame lies solely at the hands of the fanatics.

Yea, blame that guy. Not the people carrying out the attacks. Ignore the real issue at hand here, which is the religion of "peace" known as Islam.
What I think is crazy is what this "Arab Spring" brought us, many more fanatics in lawless despotic countries.
Ignore the real issue at hand here: religion.
Educate yourself on the countless good works of John Paul II, or Mother Teresa. Or any number of Christian charities (who do MUCH more good than evil, since I know you will bring up well-publicized incidents from various religious backgrounds, ignoring the massive charity that Christian organizations do).
Wow, we have never heard of those people before. Thanks for the tip.
Now educate yourself about burning crosses and lynchings and abortion clinic bombers. Oh wait, that's totally different. Those are fringe extremists, false christians.
