If you are a lawyer you'd no you'd have no case. Individual landlords cannot be compelled to rent to tenants they don't want to rent to. The reason could be they're of another race -- it doesn't matter. Not for an individual landlord. Not justifying this, mind you, but don't claim to be a lawyer when you clearly don't know the law.

Not the poster you are responding to, but the person probably just doesn't specialize in this area of law - they're incorrect, and confused about the application of the Fair Housing Act, but that doesn't mean that they're not a lawyer in some field.

I think Gay men are extremely neat and take care of properties very well, I wouldn't rule them out. If you feel uncomfortable with more than one person living in the home you could just seek single people but there is nothing stopping them to invite their boyfriend/girlfriends over as guests. You may also have less drama and issues with a married couple whether gay or not. There are no guarantees in life, we have had tenants in our property that screen great for the first year but then went off her meds and freaked out the second year and mutually ended the lease early. Unfortunately there is no way to test or ask about psychological issues.

Agree pp. Ask any local real estate agent. As a group gay men make great tenants. Clean, orderly, great decor, etc. As a landlord, I prefer them to any other group. OP is an idiot.
