I don't mind in my neighborhood. Our cans are only out for trash night and the can gets dumped by a machine so everything gets dumped in.

I'm sure there is a can within a mile, I just haven't seen one. Not in Columbia Heights/U St NW but Colonial Villiage/Shepherd Park NW. Not as urban as one might think. Thanks.

Absolutely fine. If your neighbors get all hysterical about it, remind them that they likely prefer that you pick it up and put it in a bin rather than leave it on the sidewalk in front of their house.

depends on the neighborhood. our g-collectors dump the trash cans and just don't lift out the bags. my trash contains small trash bags since I take out the trash everyday.

No. For some unkown reason our trash collectors reach in and pull out the large trash bags, they do not dump the can in the trash truck. I end up having to fish out the nasty bags of dog shit people leave in it. I don't carry my kids dirty diapers to your house and dump them in your can. Carrying around your dogs shit is part of being a dog owner. Take it with you. Not cool!

No. Not cool at all. If I can carry my dog's poop for 45 minutes, so can you. Or modify your route past a public trash can. Or ask your neighborhood to install trash cans and Baggie dispensers. There are many neighborly options to consider. Be courteous.

I wouldn't want other people putting dog poo in my trash either, but I do have to wonder- how the heck are these people picking up their dog's poop that it gets all over your trash can? Are they just blindly smushing the poop into the bag and letting it go everywhere? That's majorly gross for both parties.

Here's why not : the trash collectors in my neighborhood don't dump the can, the lift out the large bags. Anything loose or small stays in. So I have to fish it out and put it in a large bag.
In an ideal world, they would up-end the can in to the truck, but their jobs are hard enough as it is. So please don't. Take it home and put it in your own trash. Thanks.
