How is your DS in AAP and IEP at the same time?

DS did 4th grade AAP in a trailer, and it was fine-- actually kind of cozy. I was in there during class once every couple of weeks, and I thought it was quieter than the main building where kids and teachers were in the hallways. FWIW, DS has sensory issues & overstimulates easily, and he didn't have an problem adjusting. The no bathroom thing was annoying, but trailers are a reality in many FC schools, and I thought it made sense to put older kids outside. And you couldn't hearthe band.

They don't install plumbing in trailers. Modular outbuildings come with plumbing...quads, duplexes, and single trailers do not.

Trailer classrooms are some of the nicest ones around. One of my own middle school years was spent in a trailer classroom and it was the nicest one I had from grades K-8.

I know several families who have changed their summer vacation week so they can make it to the open house. I find the open house is really important for issues like these.

Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. I heard great things about his teacher and I suppose that is what matters most! My concerns over noise issues has dissipated and I look forward to seeing the classroom in person.

Yep, also, I'd say less noise because you don't have noise from other rooms, the hallway, etc. it'll be great, OP.

It should be fine - lots of kids love them. They feel special my school had them for a while (years ago )

OP here. My subject line was not meant to be offensive. I have privatized my children for years and I honestly found the use of trailers as an all day classroom surprising. I was told by others that the trailers are used for band and music classes. I guess I am naive and should have researched the situation more before posting my concerns here.

At Canterbury Woods all students grades 4-6 are in trailers due to the ongoing renovation. This includes the AAP classes. My kids have adjusted.

Lots of Fairfax (and Arlington, for that matter) kids are in trailers. My kids have had positive experiences with trailers over the years. In some ways, they are less noisy than rooms in the building, where noise in the hallways and in adjoining classrooms can be distracting. The only drawback is having to go in and out of the building to use the bathroom on rainy days. On nice days, I think the kids enjoy those moments of fresh air.

OP, your question does your child's IEP specifically have an issue with noise? If that's your real concern, that should have been in your subject line and your initial post.
Agree with earlier poster that your subject line really, really can rub folks the wrong way. Why shouldn't an AAP classroom be in a trailer? Some of the classrooms are in trailers. There an earlier thread were multiple people expressed their preference for trailers.
